In the DPR Korea, there are scores of wetland reserves to protect the biodiversity.

Rason Migrants Sanctuary is situated in Kulpho-dong and Pukpho-dong of Rason city and covers the area of 3 500-odd hectares.

In spring and autumn, it serves as a habitat for 50 000-odd migratory birds.

The Sanctuary also includes Uam Reserve for seals and Alsom Reserve for sea fowls.

Rason Migrants Sanctuary was acceded to the Ramsar Convention which is enacted in the International Wetland Agreement Institute in January 2018.
