Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Safety adopted

The Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Safety were recently updated by the Cabinet Decision No.98 to supersede the Cabinet Decision No.22 on the Adoption of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Safety which was adopted in Juche 105 (2016). The Cabinet of the DPRK updated these Regulations to ensure rigid, appropriate systems and orders in maritime control and governance over design, construction and survey of ships so as to prevent marine accidents.

These Regulations apply to organizations or individual citizens involved in design, construction, modification, repair and operation of ships, production of outfits onboard ships and technical service for ships as well as to maritime authority and its personnel. The Regulations with five chapters consisting of 47 articles provide updated and detailed requirements of design, construction, survey, safety management, security and safe navigation of ships. Thanks to the recent updating of these Regulations, solider legal foundation has been laid to ensure that the national maritime policy is fully implemented.
