71st session of the Technical Cooperation Committee

The seventy-first session of the Technical Cooperation Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) was held remotely from 20 to 24 September 2021. Present were over 160 representatives from 65 member States of IMO and 10 intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations. The DPR Korea was represented at the session by officials of the Maritime Administration and Maritime Rescue Coordination Center of the DPR Korea and the Korea Marine Environmental Protection Center.

In the session, the Committee gave in-depth consideration to fourteen agenda items including the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP), resource mobilization and partnerships, 2030 agenda for sustainable development, strengthening the impact of women in the maritime sector, etc. The Committee approved the draft Guidelines for maritime administrations’ knowledge management from ITCP, the draft Capacity-Building Decade 2021-2030 Strategy. Further, it agreed with the proposal to recognize 18 May as an IMO proclaimed International Day for Women in Maritime.

The 72nd session of the Technical Cooperation Committee was tentatively scheduled to take place from 17 to 21 October 2022.
