World Maritime Day Event Held

On the occasion of the World Maritime Day 2022, a symposium was held on Sep 28 under the theme of “New Technologies for Greener Shipping”.

The symposium was attended by officials and experts from various entities including Maritime Administration, Korea Classification Society, Marine Environmental Protection Center and Kim Chaek University of Technology, etc.

The symposium highlighted the need to support a green transition of the maritime sector into a sustainable future and discussed in depth the objectives and plans for the development of new technologies for greener shipping.

The participants exchanged their ideas and views on the development and employment of short-term measures for implementation of Initial Strategy for Reduction of GHG Emission from Ships set forth by IMO and improving energy efficiency of the existing ships and on the innovative approaches to achieving low- or zero-carbonization of shipping in the future.

The symposium served as a significant opportunity to reiterate the importance of green shipping as well as reaffirm our commitment to that end and promote synergy between industrial, academic and governmental circles thus giving impetus to the development of new technologies for green shipping.
